Mechanical Design Engineer -Aerospace

Adecco Engineering & Technical is seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer with Aerospace industry experience for a 4 month contract-to-hire position in FT Worth!

BASIC FUNCTION:

Completes regular activities of design engineering, including designing aircraft seats and components in compliance with FAA regulations, and customer and OEM requirements. Complete piece part and assembly design using CATIA Version 4 and 5, including 3D modelling and drawing drafting.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Utilizing knowledge of CAD 2D/3D systems (CATIA version 4 and 5), design aircraft seats and components that meet customer expectations and are in conformance to applicable regulations, such as FAR Part 25 and TSO C127a. This includes the detail design of complex sheet metal, machined, cast or forged metal components, as well as injection molded or vacuum formed plastic components.
  • Generate 2D drawings based on created 3D models, using standard aerospace drafting practices, as well as in house drafting standards.
  • Completes root cause analysis on MRB (Material Review Board) actions, and presents resolutions to the Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing Departments.
  • Responds to concerns of customers by making design changes in seat design and components in a manner that meets customer expectations and are in conformance with applicable regulations.
  • Participates in meetings with German engineers to discuss engineering issues, including design changes and requests from customers.
  • Supports Purchasing by providing the necessary documentation to support sourcing of parts.
  • Periodically writes Service Bulletins pertaining to modification of fielded seats; coordinates service bulletins approval with airworthiness authorities.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in Mechanical design in the aerospace industry. Proficiency in CATIA version 4 is required. Experience in aircraft interior (particularly seats) design is highly desirable. Knowledge of commercial aerospace documentation systems (CMM, SB) and the corresponding guides/standards ATA 100/200, as well as aerospace configuration control systems is desired. Experience in the use of FAR, TSO regulations, as well as the use of parts lists with high variant diversity in SAP is desired.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required due to the interface with customers and the FAA. Must be able to perform as a member of the engineering team, in a fast-paced, small company environment, with minimal direct supervision.
